We had the opportunity to plan a very special Indian Fusion Wedding in Birmingham, Alabama. It was a celebration of culture and family that represented many states and countries. It was important to the couple to create moments that represented their roots from Alabama and India, and the result was a colorful three day celebration.

The celebration began with a Mehndi at the Elyton Hotel in Downtown Birmingham. The next day they had the poojah and pithi ceremony at a family home. The Hindu Ceremony and Sangeet were hosted at the Birmingham Museum of Art. The Christian ceremony was at the historical Independent Presbyterian Church, and the final reception was at B&A Warehouse. Throughout the planning process we talked about how it was many people’s first time to Birmingham, so they wanted to make sure to introduce them to some of the local favorites as well as expose Birmingham to beautiful Indian traditions. This Indian fusion wedding in Birmingham was truly unforgettable.

Sangeet Location: Birmingham Museum of Art I Birmingham, Alabama

Colors: Red, Fuchsia, Coral, Orange, Lemon Yellow, Greenery, Lavender

Floral Arrangements: Lush, multicolored, and asymmetric floral arrangements with greenery. We used them to add color to the room with small floral cups of colorful florals. They added pops of color through vibrant taper candles.

Lighting & Design: With the venue being so modern and stark white we wanted to focus on giving the space an Indian flare and filling the space with color. We created a floor plan that allowed for a large dance floor area for all of the Bollywood performances to be enjoyed by the guests. Food stations surrounded the dining tables, and we had a mehndi station for the guests to enjoy under the Mandap that had been used for the Hindu ceremony.

Personal Touches: To us, personal touches are the little details that matter to you as a couple. In this wedding they showed up in the henna design which many brides are doing. Weaving in home city skylines, initials, and images of things they love. Something fun about this Indian fusion wedding at the Birmingham Museum of Art was that the had a touring Indian art exhibit on display across from the gallery that featured art from local, Birmingham artists.

Vibe: Bold, Vibrant, Inviting.

Food: Indian fusion cuisine was introduced through interactive food stations during the Sangeet and had more of a street food feel to it. They had Indo Chinese, South Indian, Gujarti, and Italian food stations.

Western Wedding Location: B&A Warehouse I Birmingham, Alabama

Vibe: Bright, Joyful, Fresh

Colors: Fuchsia, Orange, Yellow, Greenery

Floral Arrangements: The arrangements were are low as this was something important to the couple. Color blocking the arrangements is a great way to create visual interested while keep the arrangements all low. Fuchsia, Orange and Yellow compote bowls along with complimentary napkins created a beautiful visual as guests entered the space. All the colors were tied together with the ceiling installation over the dance floor, bridal bouquet, and sweetheart table.

Personal Touches: Table Numbers with pictures of the two of them and places they had travelled together. Fun Fact Napkins. The guest book crossword puzzle that was custom made about them. This Indian Fusion Wedding in Birmingham Alabama was a perfect blend of bride and groom.
